When food-insecure students are on a budget, some basic necessities feel like a luxury: having spices to remind you of home, cleaning supplies to keep your family well, or hygiene products for self-care.
The HSRC has created an “Adopt-a-Month” program to help fill in the gaps of what we receive through our partnership with the Linn Benton Food Share and what might be challenging to buy when on a SNAP (food stamp) budget. Student and faculty groups and organizations can help give back to our community by hosting a drive, annually, dedicated to one category of items. These would look like:
Spices and Seasonings
Culturally Relevant Foods
Dorm Friendly Convenience Foods
Contact us to get started. We'll help you coordinate, advertise and come up with a project plan. If your group would like to also participate in a group volunteer project related to this drive, we would be happy to help arrange that as well. Email us today at email@example.com.
