Here at Oregon State, we have five distinctive governing councils that make up our fraternity and sorority community.  We encourage you to explore all our councils have to offer!  The information on this page will help you learn more about our community and find your place to belong!

Collective Greek Council (CGC)

CGC is the governing council for unhoused, academic and special interest organizations. It's membership is currently includes 4 sororities that each have a specific academic focus.

  • Phi Sigma Rho - Engineering
  • Sigma Alpha - Agriculture
  • Sigma Delta Omega - General Science & STEM

CGC hosts council-wide recruitment events where interested students can learn more about CGC's chapters, meet current members, and get information on the chapter's recruitment events. 

CGC chapters hold independent recruitment processes a few times each academic year. The best way to learn about these joining opportunities is to follow CGC and its member chapters on social media.

CGC Spring Recruitment Events

Tuesday, April 4th

  • Tabling in the SEC Plaza - 12-2pm 
    • Meet our chapters that are holding spring recruitment events!

    • Meet more members of our chapters and get some free food!

Interfraternity Council (IFC)

IFC is the governing council for traditionally housed fraternities. There are currently 24 IFC fraternities with 19 are housed and 5 offer an un-housed experience. 

IFC chapters recruit new members all year round, including the summer. Chapters might contact you directly or you can learn more about chapter's summer recruitment events on their social media. It is up to each individual student if they would like to accept a bid over the summer or wait until Fall Term.

Throughout the rest of the academic year, IFC holds information events where students can learn more about joining. Chapters recruit new members year-round, so interested students are encouraged to reach out to chapters that interest them through social media or by contacting the chapter recruitment chair. Chapter contact information can be found in their chapter profiles.

Friday, April 7:

  • Fraternity Fair - 4-6pm - MU Horizon Room
    • Meet members from all the IFC chapters participating in Spring Recruitment!
  •  Bowling Night - 6-8pm - MU Lanes & Games
    • Come out for some FREE bowling and connect with current members!

Saturday, April 8- Thursday, April 13: Chapter Recruitment Events

  • Check back during Week 1 for more information on individual chapter recruitment events.
  • Students are encouraged to go to events of the chapters they are most interested in joining.

Friday, April 14: Jump Day

Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

MGC is the governing council for multicultural and culturally-based fraternities and sororities. There are currently 1 fraternity and 2 sororities that are members of MGC.

  • Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. - Latinx founded sorority
  • Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. - Latinx founded sorority
  • Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc. - Latinx founded fraternity

In the fall, MGC hosts an Open House where interested students can learn more about MGC's chapters, meet current members, and get information on the joining process.

MGC Spring Recruitment

MGC chapters accept new members through a process called membership intake. Each chapter will hold interest events throughout the year for prospective members to attend. Its recommended that interested students attend as many council and chapter events as possible to demonstrate interest and to learn more about membership requirements.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

NPHC, or the Divine 9, is the governing council for historically African American fraternities and sororities. There are currently 3 fraternities and 2 sororities that have active undergraduate members at OSU.

Joining NPHC in Spring Term

Panhellenic Council (PHC)

Panhellenic is the governing council for traditionally housed sororities. Oregon State has 11 Panhellenic chapters and all are housed.

The primary joining period for Panhellenic chapters is Fall Formal Recruitment which takes place the first or second weekend of Fall Term. Check back in June for more information on how to register and for finalized recruitment dates! This is the only opportunity to meet all 11 chapters are many are full after Fall recruitment and cannot accept new members throughout the academic year. 

Interested in joining a Panhellenic chapter in Spring 2023? Panhellenic is excited to announce they are hosting a Spring COB Recruitment process during Week 2! Students who are interest in learning more about Panhellenic chapters are encouraged to sign up and participate in as many events as possible. There is no cost to sign up!

Spring COB Recruitment

  • Sign Up Ends - Monday, April 10th at noon
  • Kick-Off - Monday, April 10th from 6-9pm in the MU Ballroom
    • Get more information on how Spring COB Recruitment works and meet all participating chapters!
  • Chapter Open Houses - Tuesday, April 11th from 5-9pm
    • Stop by all participating chapters' houses and meet more members!
    • Each chapter will be open for a designated time between 5-9pm and a detailed schedule will be shared at Kick-Off.
    • Panhellenic will have a van shuttle between chapter houses.
  • Chapter Events - Wednesday, April 12th & Thursday, April 13th
    • Chapters can host their own COB events and a schedule of events will be shared at Kick-Off.
    • Some events may be invitation only, these will be noted on the schedule.
  • Bid Calls- Friday, April 13th
    • Chapters may extend bids to participating students on this day.
    • More information about this day will be shared at Kick-Off.
