The OSU Veteran Certifying Officials, in conjunction with academic advisors, will work with students on a case-by-case basis, looking at each request in an independent manner. Tuition would be refunded for withdrawn courses.
If you have federal financial aid, it is important that you contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships before you are deployed. Even if you are deployed and receive a full refund from the institution, the Federal Department of Education policies still require that financial aid offices perform a Return of Title IV Funds calculation on your Federal Financial Aid award to determine how much aid you may be able to retain after your withdrawal for the term.
Students may obtain enrollment certification at no charge via the link provided through their MyOSU portal. NSC certificaitnos are official and need no further insitutitonal signature or seals.
Any student with orders to report for active military duty, or who is currently serving on active duty and receives orders taking them away from their permanent duty station, may withdraw at any time during the term and receive a full refund. If sufficient course work has been accomplished and the instructor feels justified in granting credit for the course work completed, credit may be granted and no refund will be given.
If you are called to active duty or receive orders taking you away from your permanent duty station during the term, please contact the OSU Veteran Certifying Officials as soon as you receive your orders for instruction on how to withdraw from any or all courses at OSU.
The Undergraduate Planned Educational Leave Program (PELP) is designed to allow a student to pursue other activities, such as military deployment. The PELP allows an undergraduate student to temporarily suspend their academic work for a period of time (in accordance with AR 13a, 13b, and 13c), and resume their studies with minimal procedural difficulties. Utilization of PELP reserves the student’s right to keep their original academic catalog active during their absence. PELP should be used if the student could be absent for four or more terms. The $25.00 application fee is waived for eligible military service.
