Assistant Dean of Students and Director
I currently serve as an Assistant Dean of Students - Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards here at OSU. I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise about diverse student populations, higher education law and policy, and student behavior(s). Particularly, around currently and formerly incarcerated youth and adults. I have worked in various higher education and student affairs roles (e.g., living learning communities, Prison Education, interim Dean of Students, & Student Conduct). I also served as an Assistant Professor in Higher Education at Ohio University. While in this role, I taught courses such as Higher Education Law, Policy Perspectives, Diversity in Higher Education, and Campus Environments. In addition to teaching, I was responsible for researching the experiences of students with criminal records and the various factors that affect or impact their transitions in traditional higher education settings. My work has been published in a wide variety of educational journals.
I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and studied at UO (I know!) and OSU. I've lived in Salem, Corvallis, Eugene, and Springfield, and besides the allergies, I love it here in the Willamette Valley! I love to cook, camp, explore Oregon, and work on my McMenamins passport. As fun and active as that sounds, I also make sure to get in plenty of quality Netflix time. I'm also a student in OSU's Postbacc Computer Science program!
I'm a graduate of the College Student Services Administration Program at OSU, and my time here had a big influence on shaping my own values. So many of the students I've met here at Oregon State are proud to be Beavers, and it shows through their commitment to the OSU community. We're stronger when we support each other, and I aim to ensure OSU offers a safe and supportive learning environment for all students to explore and discover their potential.
Community Conduct Coordinator
I grew up just south of Corvallis on a cattle ranch in Harrisburg, OR but, after leaving for college, have lived in Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. Needless to say, Oregon is my favorite! The natural beauty, climate, and people are unlike anywhere else. Outside of work, I enjoy running, baking (especially marionberry pies), hiking, reading Wendell Berry, and exploring the Pacific Northwest. On a given Friday night, there is also a good chance I am at Darkside Cinema catching a show, too. My goal is to someday camp/hike my way along trails from Corvallis to the coast.
My favorite part of working in our office is the opportunity to partner with students in making their Oregon State experience personally transformative, especially through their interactions with other students and the local Corvallis community. I love getting to know students' interests and passions - OSU students really do change the world!
